The Budapest Central Market was built in 1896 and is one of the oldest and largest indoor markets in town. It is the must visit place for the tourists.
To go to the Central Market, you can take subway line number 4 to the "Fővám tér" Station or take the light rail to the "Fővám tér M" Station.
The exterior of the Central Market was built using beige and pink tiles. It was built using a steel-frame structure and is well lighted inside. It also has wide corridors.
There are three levels to the market. On the ground level, there is a supermarket and on the first floor, you will find stalls selling fresh food, processed food and wine, and on the second floor, you will find souvenirs and cooked food.
You can find lots of processed food on the first floor, such as red pepper powder, foie gras, noble rot wine, bull blood, etc. which can be used as souvenirs.
On the second floor, you can find textile products as well as magnets with photos, etc. You can also find food stalls selling hot food and there are also some restaurants serving different kinds of Hungarian food. You can find seats outside each of the food stalls.
